Father – Charles I the Great (Charlemagne)
Mother – Hildegarde of Vinzgau
Rotrude was betrothed as a child (781 – 787) to the Byzantine emperor Constantine VI, son of the famous Empress Irene, widow of Leo IV.
The Greeks rendered her name as ‘Erythro’ but the betrothal was broken by her father.
She never married but issue by her relationship with Roriko I of Maine (link)
Rotrude later became a nun at the Abbey of St Marie at Chelles
