Pepin of Neustria (2)
Carolingian prince
Born (770) – Died (after 774)

Father – Carloman II of Neustria
Mother – Gerberga of Lombardy (link)

His father died when he was an infant (771) and Pepin and his younger brother were taken by his widowed mother to the court of his grandfather King Desiderius of Lombardy in Pavia
Desiderius supported the claims of Pepin to succeed to the Frankish throne against those of his adult uncle Charles
Pope Hadrian I refused the request of Desiderius to crown the child as King of the Franks
Pepin was captured at the siege of Verona by King Charles (774), together with his mother Gerberga and infant brother Siagre
He was forced to become a monk which rendered him ineligible to wear the crown
