Mary became a novice at Lillechurch in Kent and was professed a nun at Romsey Abbey in Hampshire
She became Abbess of Romsey (1155 - 1160)
Mary was abducted and married (1160) by Matthew I of Flanders
This marriage was later annulled (1169) and Mary retired to the Benedictine Abbey of St Austreberte
