Carloman III of the Franks
King of the West Franks (879 – 884)
Carloman ruled jointly with his brother Louis III (879 – 882)
When Carloman and Louis divided the kingdom Carloman received Aquitaine and Burgundy (880)
He was then sole ruler (882 – 884)
Born (866) – Died (Dec 12, 884) at Bezu-la-Foret, near Andelys, Eure
He was accidentally injured whilst hunting and died a week afterwards
Buried within the Abbey of St Denis at Rheims, near Paris
Father – Louis II the Stammerer
Mother – Ansgarde of Neustria
King Carloman was betrothed to his kinswoman Engelburga of Vienne but died before their marriage could take place. He left no children.
