Aelfgifu was married (c904) to Gorm Haraldsson the Old of Denmark (link) and then took the Danish name of Thyra
Her subjects nicknamed the queen ‘Thyra Danebod’ ( Denmark’s defence) but the real meaning behind this remains uncertain
