Eahlswith was married at Winchester (868) to Alfred the Great
As a widow Queen Eahlswith became a nun (c901) at the Abbey of St Mary at Winchester
Originally buried there her remains were later removed to Winchester Cathedral
Eahlswith was venerated as a saint (Dec 5)
